We are pleased to announce that the first edition of Women in Mathematical Finance (WMFW2026) will be held at Sapienza University of Rome on 12-13 February 2026, hosted by the Department of Methods and Models for Territory, Economics and Finance (MEMOTEF).
Participation in WMFW2026 is free, but registration is mandatory.
Registration Deadline: All participants must register by 15 January 2026. (Registration will open shortly.)
- Aims and Scope
Gender disparity remains a challenge in academia, particularly in STEM and related disciplines such as mathematical finance. While progress has been made, women continue to be underrepresented in senior academic and research positions.
In this context, the Mathematics Section of the Department of MEMOTEF at Sapienza University of Rome is pleased to host the first edition of the Women in Mathematical Finance Workshop (WMFW2026), which will take place on 12–13 February 2026 at the Faculty of Economics, Sapienza University of Rome.
Workshop goals:
- Promote the visibility and role of women in mathematical finance
- Provide a platform for mentorship and academic exchange
- Encourage early-career researchers to showcase their work
Program highlights:
- Seven keynote lectures by internationally renowned female scholars
- Call for Papers addressed to early-career female researchers (PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, research fellows) who will present short talks
- Research topics include, but are not limited to: stochastic analysis, optimal control, financial market modeling, portfolio optimization, and data science in quantitative finance
- Poster session and networking opportunities, encouraging a dynamic exchange among participants.
The event is open to all scholars. To help early-career participants attend, the organizers aim to provide partial coverage of travel expenses. Depending on available resources, limited support for accommodation may also be offered. Details on eligibility and the amount of funding will be shared with accepted participants.
This workshop reflects Sapienza’s commitment to gender equality, inclusion, and scientific dissemination.
- Call for contributions
